Been there, saw that: Cypress Hill live at the Melkweg

I just got back from Amsterdam where I saw Cypress Hill perform. It was at the Melkweg, the venue was sold out. It was really crowded, at first I couldn’t see much because of all the people standing in front of me. Good thing ‘Insane in the Brain’ began and I was able to find a better spot while moving with the crowd. We all know nobody can’t stand still during that song.  It was my first time seeing Cypress Hill perform and it was great. Didn’t expect B-Real and Sen Dog to be this good. But of course they have been performing together for years, so they know exactly what to do. The combination of B-Real’s nasal voice and Sen Dog’s deep and loud voice is perfect. DJ Muggs wasn’t present apparently (my bad), DJ Julio G was his replacement and he was good. Eric Bobo the percussionist (now how often do you see that during a hiphop show?) was also great. During the performance they had the chance to show us what they can solo.  Cypress Hill performed well-known tracks like ‘Tequila Sunrise‘ and ‘How I Could Just Kill a Man‘ but also new songs from their collaboration EP with Rusko called ‘Cypress X Rusko’.  The last song of their performance was  ‘Rock Superstar‘ which gave the crowd a chance to wild oud one last time before they left. I really had a great time. Next time they perform in a city near you make sure to get your tickets, you do not want to miss this.
Here are a few vids of the evening, don’t turn your volume up ;):
1. Cypress Hill – Throw your set in the air

2. Cypress Hill – Boom Biddy Bye Bye

3. Cypress Hill – Cock The Hammer

4. Cypress Hill – Vato

5. Cypress Hill – Lick a Shot

6. Cypress Hill – Illusions

7. Cypress Hill – Aint going out

The next  hiphop show in the Melkweg will be Big Daddy Kane on the 18th of June. Something completely different from this but still worth it.  Tickets cost 18 euro, go to for more information.
